slack 10.1 -> current testing kernel and battery support

Hi!

I'm using the testing kernel from current (2.6.11.9) with my slack 10.1 but there is no battery support for my laptop. At boot I get
Code:
modprobe apm: No apm support in kernel!
How can I fix that or should I use acpi? If so, how do I enable it. Can't find it in rc.modules... Or maybe I need to compile my own kernel to get this?

Thanks in advance!

hi there,
most modern laptops have a better communication with acpi.
i would suggest a recompilation of the current kernel.
afaik, the slackware 2.6 kernel has no support for freq scaling also.
this is a pretty new world and to get the best from your machine i would suggest to change somethings in the kernel.

Thanks... I was afraid it had to come to that. But I guess I have to try compile sometime. Anyone with a good slackware specific guide for 2.6 kernels? I might use my old config file and add/remove instead though...
