Rebooting led to mouse not working, resolution changed

I've had my machine up and running for six months now with no problems.

Today, I was working on it and when I tried to load Kate, the program crashed. So I rebooted, and all of the sudden I can't use my mouse and my video resolution is at 1024 instead of 1280.

I was working on a program in C++, and the only system variable that I changed was running "ldconfig" - though I didn't change any of the values in the ld.conf file. The only thing is that my program was receiving linker errors until I ran ldconfig.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I absolutely completely forgot that I ran Swaret, which upgraded and installed a whole lot of packages since I changed it to check for current version packages. Here is the log of what was upgraded, which I bet may provide some clues:

Looks like Xorg overwrote your XF86 config files - try running "xorgconfig" to get things going again.

Thanks for the answer - a nice person in #slackware let me know the same thing, and that was indeed it. I didn't even realize that Swaret had upgraded Slackware to 10.0, and I also didn't know they changed X11 config files. Thanks!

If you are going to use swaret, I would suggest at least always reading the changelogs to see what it is supposed to be doing and making sure that swaret actually did it.
