Problems with USB and recompiled kernel

I would like to use my digital camera with Slackware 9.1. So..I have configured USB port and recompiled kernel and right modules (sg, sg_mod,sr_mod,usb-uhci,usb-storage). I've marked:
[*] Preliminary USB device filesystem

..and rebooted my PC. Then I probed modules and everything should be ok (I did that a few weeks ago with MDK9.2). But I cant mount usbdevfs. My Slack didn't make a place for device in /proc (should be /proc/bus/usb).
What should I do?

mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera
you have to create this directory camera
if it works, add the line in fstab

U have to compile into the kernel support of SCSI, USB, hotplugable devices
plug the cable into the camera and then turn it on. It's wheel should be placed on the symbol of the USB connection. After this write the line I expaliined above. The camera is mounted as a hard drive. You can browse it if everithing's ok. If you keep your kernel wich came with the instalation there won't be problems.
The problem could be in your custom kernel. There was a problem with 2.6.0 but I thing it's fixed. Onece mounted and after unmounted was impossible to mount again without unplugging the wire.
Luck

Well, I've included SCSI and USB support, but what about hotplugable devices? What should I mark in config?
