problem connecting to internet

I have an external modem and I am using the following command in shell to connect to internet:

pppd /dev/modem 115200 debug usepeerdns defaultroute connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v "" at+cta=30 OK "atdt#777" CONNECT' mtu 264

the problem is that it gets connected and the lights blink indicating the connection is established but in the web browser if i paste any url it does not display the page and gives error message page not found. How do i make the browser to connect as the connection is already established but the browser is unable to connect. I have checked the browser connection settings. I tried browsing in mozilla, netscape, firebird & konqurer.

Check your DNS details in /etc/resolve.conf

Your ISP should have at least two DNS boxes, give them a call and ask them what the IP numbers are, put them in /etc/resolve.conf in the following way,
Code:
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP number from your ISP.

U might even (I m sure they are published) be able to find the DNS addresses on your ISP's homepage @ support section, probably... Look carefully...

The support is stupid they say there is no DNS number and no info about it on the website. Is there any way to get hold of DNS no from windows?
