I have an external modem and I am using the following command in shell to connect to internet:
pppd /dev/modem 115200 debug usepeerdns defaultroute connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v "" at+cta=30 OK "atdt#777" CONNECT' mtu 264
the problem is that it gets connected and the lights blink indicating the connection is established but in the web browser if i paste any url it does not display the page and gives error message page not found. How do i make the browser to connect as the connection is already established but the browser is unable to connect. I have checked the browser connection settings. I tried browsing in mozilla, netscape, firebird & konqurer.
Your ISP should have at least two DNS boxes, give them a call and ask them what the IP numbers are, put them in /etc/resolve.conf in the following way,
Code:
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP number from your ISP.
