Problem connecting to the internet!

I want to go online on my linux box. But i don't know how to work it with the debian distro! Plz aim me or give me set by set instructions on how to do this :[! thanks a bunch!

PS> plz explain what is nic is and how i set it up!

ok, dude....
LOTS more info is required. Which flavor of Debian? What kind of NIC? How do you connect and get an IP? DHCP?

Do you have a dialup, cable modem, DSL, something different?

NIC stands for Network Interface Card.
