ping option in DHCP

hello

i am using slackware 9.1 ( i mainly use it)

about two days my server stop the ping option (they r using redhat 9.0)

and now i can't connect net using slackware 9.1

but my wndows XP (i do not use it generally) works normally with it.

my ipconfig -all in windows shows

DHCP enabled Yes
IP 192.168.1.201
Subnet mast 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.1.1
DHCP server 192.168.1.1
DNS servers 192.168.1.1

now at start up slackware shows ping options is not enable
then got reply from 192.168.101.1

and my route shows me that ip
192.168.101.0

? how to stop the ping option of DHCP and select the DHCP 192.168.1.1 ?

i have talked with my server admin he only know about the redhat linux
and tell me to set 192.168.1.1

or how can i set net properly in my slackware 9.1

- i like slackware becoz it is traditionl linux

You can edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf or set some init script to set your ip at startup ie: ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255
do a man at ifconfig if you have some doubts, editing inet1.conf is easier

Try also netconfig
