Plasma, getting around can be cumbersome. Changing my ways for desktop use! Love rc1 so far.

but there are sub-issues like "ions" to add stations to most weather widgets. Apparently (and I suppose, naturally) there is some focus on getting better weather reporting automatically that is reasonably localized as a simple web search even with "plasma" as a search term got several hits.
Many thanks!
It would be nice if the gentleman who was kind enough to create YAWP would update it for kde5. It is the best weather widget I've seen to date for any desktop. Another reason, minor reason, I've stayed with kde4.
I am still investigating on how to rid myself of the 'system monitor' widget(s) that are stuck on the initial screen. Locks the Desktop. I still do not see anything in the logs about this issue. Doing a lot of online searches to find a solution. Debugging this is getting to be a pain.
For now I just created another user so I could use my system. I have been using KDE for a long time but Plasma is becoming a challenge for some issues. Overall I like the looks and user configurations allowed.
Looks to me like 'rc1' will be moving on soon. At least I hope so!
This in my opinion is where "activities" come in incredibly handy. I used to think activities were useless, since we could have multiple desktops with different widgets, but activities are actually even more useful (and less buggy/messy), as you can combine them with desktops. One activity could be performance monitoring for example. Another could be programming, and yet another video editing or whatever, and each would have their own virtual desktops. So activties kind of become a wrapper for virtual desktops.
This was kind of the final nail in the coffin for me. I could not understand activities at all. I just wanted a simple folder on the dekstop like old times.

In that respect, I've found KDE5 to be better than KDE4.
It's a simple desktop by default... but you can complicate it as much as you like.

Indeed. I really liked KDE 3.x, KDE 4 not so much. KDE5 is a vast improvement over 4 in my opinion. KDE5 is my default desktop on my main Slackware units.
Just for future references. Patience is a virtue! I decide to give this a try. I 'startx' and wait until the Desktop loads fully. I move the mouse slowly(jerks and jump) so I can get to the widget on screen. I right click on the left most widget then wait until the action menu appears. I then select remove widget. Wait until that one removes and I get a successful removal. I then moved to the remaining widget and right click and use remove widget. Get the successful removal screen. Mouse is still erratic so I logout. I then do a 'startx' and wait. Desktop boots as usual. I open my usual apps; Firefox, Thunderbird and LibreOffice writer. Guess what, I had to re-sync Firefox and load my Thunderbird configurations. I have no reason as to why I lost my user configurations.
Please note the stock System Monitor widget is useless and will possibly create issues for you so user(s) be-aware.
I have spent a lot of time looking for solutions for the above problem. I reasoned that the system should initialize to the default screen and then I could use utility to remove the double widgets. I think the reason for double widgets was my mouse has a bounce problem for the switch. I've had this mouse for a long time. So I will be getting a new one.
I've still got a lot to learn about Plasma but working as long as I have with 'X' should be a plus. Learning semantics and syntax should take a little time while working with Plasma.
I really like the looks of the Desktop. Clean & crisp!
Have fun & enjoy Slackware64, be it Live or '-current rc1 or newer rc'!
