Patched Xorg 6.8.2 for Slackware 10.1

I installed 10.1 and later updated from Xorg 6.8.1 to Xorg 6.8.2 when Pat V. said that Xorg 6.8.2 used the same libaries and would work fine in 10.1 systems. There is now a security patch that was released for both Xorg 6.8.1 and Xorg 6.8.2. and I saw that Pat V. has now released a 10.2 security patch now for Xorg 6.8.2..

Is there any reason that I should not use the 10.2 Security Patch for Xorg 6.8.2 in my Slackware 10.1 systems?

Well, one of the last changes before 10.2 came out was new compiles of glibc and friends. So the new Xorg-6.8.2 packages were compiled against them. This is one of the reasons it's generally not a good idea to mix and match releases.
