I`m going to create a new pkg with "makepkg -l y -c n package.tgz"
on a directory where`re an /install/slack-desc file the package
is created without any description associated. Anything is showed
when I install the package everything works fine but the description
don`t appear. Anyone can help me please?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Well, there must be some text in the "slack-desc"
text file for something to show up at install.

And who knows, if it possible to make a formatting
hiding the text. So please use this formatting :
Code:
 # HOW TO EDIT THIS FILE:
# The "handy ruler" below makes it easier to edit a package description. Line
# up the first '|' above the ':' following the base package name, and the '|'
# on the right side marks the last column you can put a character in. You must
# make exactly 11 lines for the formatting to be correct. It's also
# customary to leave one space after the ':'.

        |-handy-ruler------------------------------------------------------|
slackpkg: slackpkg
slackpkg:
slackpkg: Slackpkg is a package manager for Slackware. It can download,
slackpkg: upgrade, install and remove selected packages. With it, you
slackpkg: can search in the Slackware Package database and find which
slackpkg: package has the selected file.
slackpkg:
slackpkg: Slackpkg DOESN'T replace pkgtool. Actually, Slackpkg uses pkgtool
slackpkg: for all install|upgrade|remove functions.

This is a slackware specific topic and could have been asked in the slackware forum... either way...

the 'slackpkg' portion also has to match your package name exactly.

If your final package name is somepkg-1.0.0-i486-1.tgz

then it must be 'somepkg'

if they don't match or your package has the wrong name format (e.g. you forget the build number at the end) then it will also be blank.

That is

Code:
somepkg: SomePKG (this is some pkg)
somepkg:
somepkg: the above shows up on one line in the ncurses pkg management system
somepkg: don't pay attention to the ruler, use a editor that tells you how
somepkg: many characters are in the line and never go past 78. This includes
somepkg: the name at the start of the line.

Hi,

welcome to LQ, and I've moved this post to our

Perhaps you are confronting a problem with the package file name conventions. Refer to this thread:
