So trying to be clever, I connected an hdmi from my video card to tv. I figured it would be kinda nice to be able just play emulated consoles while on the couch. I got so far as NVIDIA seeing that there is a new monitor , but nothing is displayed on my actual tv. I just want to mirror screen0(monitor) to screen1(TV). The tv is connected with an hdmi, and I would also like to figure out how to get sound, but first things first, getting an image.
It is detected in nvidia but no matter what I try nothing comes up on my tv...

LG Electronics 47LV440 TV HDMI
Have you tried rebooting with it plugged in? It's been a while since I've used nvidia with hdmi, but when I did, my TV was my only hookup with it (the system was just a htpc) and I never had any problems with it being recognized.
As for hdmi audio out, you should be able to do it using pavucontrol.

Yep, I had my tv turned off connected it to my video card, then turned it on, nothing, rebooted computer, still nothing.
I'm not sure if the 2nd monitor worked with the nouveau driver. I uninstalled the nouveau driver, installed the nouveau blacklist. Installed the nvidia driver and loaded up KDE and it worked.
Its picking up your display.
in the Nvidia settings "X Server Display Configuration" for my 2nd monitor I have:
config xscreen 0
resolution auto
orientation no rotation
no reflection
underscan 0
position absolute and the text box beside it +1920+0
The primary monitor is the same except the absolute position is +0+0
and I made it the primary display for the X screen
The X Server XVideo Settings. I have it Auto.
What does it say under GPU and the monitors name DFP something?
I doubt what I said helped because it probably should have configured it since it picks it up.

Well I ruled some things out, it can't be the hdmi since I was using a media player with it - I thought maybe hdcp on the tv side(?) but that doesn't make any sense. I also checked the documentation for the tv, according to it - 1920x1080 is not supported or recommended from a pc - so I toned down the screen res to 1280x720, still nothing. I guess maybe I can try the vga port off the card, but I don't know how that could be any different.
I did also try to go into kde in hopes maybe it will at least output something since I thought maybe LXDE is just not cut out for it, but still no image. So, yea I guess this one is a toughie - I am still open to any other suggestions
