No sound in KDE

Hi,
I recently upgraded my kernel to 2.6.13. Sound worked fine untill I used swaret to upgrade packages. Alsa recompile fixed it. Only problem now is that the sound doesn't work in KDE. I can get it to work in every other window manager but it still wont work in KDE. I've searched all over and played with the settings to no avail. My theory is that KDE's sound server is taking over alsa's but I don't know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Got it working. Not sure what I did though.

Hi Vishal,
I imagine external soundcards can be tricky. Never tried to set one up though. When I recompiled my kernel, I did see an option for external sound card support. I didn't select it because I don't have one. Have you run alsaconf? Not sure if it would detect it though if it is USB. Hopefully someone else here knows more and can help you better.
Good luck

vishalsharmait have you run alsaconf and alsamixer? If not, alsaconf should detect it and with alsamixer you have to unmute and raise the volumes.

A good read if you're new to linux and slackware: http://slackbook.org
