no network, on 8.0

Hi slakusers

I just installed slakware 8.0 on my machine,
but it doesnt have network - dont know why.
One boottime mesg said: no socket drivers
loaded. So I did 'insmod 8139too' - it worked
fine.

I dont have any of these utilities on my system:
ping, telnet, ftp, netstat, etc.
they are not even available in slakware/n1 of 8.0.

So, can somebody help me get my slack on the net?

What kind of package install did you do? Full? Newbie? Interactive?

I'd suggest rerunning the install and using either Full or Menu (and taking the defaults).

What did you choose for network settings? DHCP? or did you assign a static IP? Are you using a router or is this dial up?

It sounds like you didn't install the tcpip1 package.
