Angry NIC problem

Before I compiled a custom kernel I was able to get on the 'net and now I can't.

During the Slack 9 setup it was identified as a 8139too.o

I'm not sure where to go from here.

well, check your .config file, find the realtek 8139
and enable it again ... ?

You're a godsend... I was having the EXACT SAME problem with the exact same card.

The stupid thing was I recompiled the kernel about 5 times just to see whether I left anything out. Who would have thought it just wasn't enabled... not a n00b like me.
