Alright, I just compiled 2.6.11-rc3, and this has happend before, not just with this kernel version, but it compiled fine, and it boots, im on it now, but the thing is..when it's booting..the screen is completely black, i cant see a damn thing, i just have to guess when the login screen is there and enter my username & pass, then type 'startx'..any help would be great.
you never complied in the framebuffer when you installed that kernel, recomile it with it or do what he said the system still works so wait a while and log in and then do startx and u can work away
although i have framebuffer support i always use vga=normal. I hate hi resolutions in console. It's awful, i cannot see a thing( to small for me), and the refresh rate drops to 60
