Need help on Qalculte program from linuxpackages

Hi all,

I've been hunting for a program like this one, but it's dying on me. Not to mention in windows I spent a ton of money for something like this, but I digress...

My goal is to use this program here: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=24906

When I launch the program it just dies. I ran it from console to see if I get an error but nothing.

It requires:
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=9097
and
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=9098
and
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=8723

My only guess is that the "cln" is packaged off of a freerock gnome slack 10.2 box.

I'm on slack 10.2 with updates only. Any ideas?

I think your guess is probably right. Maybe try the packages at slacky.it instead. They list the dependencies as libqalculate and cln. (BTW, they also supply SlackBuild scripts for all their packages.)

I had trouble finding CLN using their search engine, so here's a link...

This is a typical problem with using stuff from linuxpackages.net...you never know for sure any info about the system used to build the packages...but it is a good place to start...

But since it didn't work for you this time, I suggest you remove those packages and download the source for each and attempt to compile & build them one at a time. Use checkinstall to make removal easier.

The order I would go in is:

cln
libqalculate
qalculate

If you're right about cln having gnome dependencies, you'll find out during the compilation and building. You then will have some info to help you chase down the gnome dependencies. When you've identified the gnome packages you need...try linuxpackages.net first and if those work, great. If not, you'll probably have to build from source.

I suggest you keep some paper and a pen near the keyboard as you may discover that your gnome dependencies have their own dependencies, etc, etc. And it can become a confusing game of chasing your tail.

Hope this helped. Good luck.
