there is the following problem:
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This appeared after I tried to run mplayer 0.9 under my slack9.I installed mplayer with a package found at www.linuxmafia.org for slack9.Any Ideas ?

For mplayer it's better if you compile from source... sure it'll take some time, but lots of its lib dependencies are actually system-specific. Believe me, it's worth it
