mp3blaster volume control problem

Hello

I am using Slackware 13.0 quite out of the box, normally I can change volume for every app using alsamixer. As my laptop is a little bit old working in X uses a lot of resources I have been searching for more and more console based apps. With good results until now.

I started using mp3blaster to listen to music. Great app and all. Only problem I have got is that I have difficulty controlling the volume for it. When in alsamixer I can mute the master channel an control Pcm in small increments so that I can speak about control. When using mp3blaster I have got no control whatsoever. Cant mute the vol channel nor can I control the Pcm2 channel in any way.

My questions are:
How do I control the volume in mp3blaster?
Why do I have Pcm2 instead of Pcm in mp3blaster?
What other info would be needed for anyone to push me in the right direction to solve this problem?

I did google for some answers, but the info is not really relevant to my problem or I am simply not understanding what is written. Second option is quite possible as it is late and my vision is getting a little blurry.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Don't you have mixer and volume control in mp3blaster itself? < and > for volume and t for mixer settings? I used mp3blaster a while ago, forgot a bit by now, but the screenshot on sourceforge still suggests that the features are there...

Hello.

Thanks for the reply, but that much I have got to know from the manual pages and from the start screen. I musst have not explained myself good enough.

Problem is I cant control the setting. In mp3blaster I have got the channel vol and Pcm2 that are at 100%, which setting I can't change. There are also other channels like mic, CD and so on and I can control most of these.

When looking in aumix, amixer and rexima there is also a channel called Pcm2 and vol(master channel I presume) which cannot be controlled. Both set to 100% and I can mute and unmute the vol one and that's it. When I look in alsamixer the channel I normally use for controlling the volume is called Pcm and it can be gradually changed and is controlling volume in X.

I can see that alsamixer is using /dev/snd/controlC0 and mp3blaster, aumix, rexima and amixer are all using /dev/mixer. I have tried to change that from the command line but it didn't work.

Now the question is what do I need to change or what do I need to read to know what to change in order to have the mp3blaster control the volume. It is working brilliantly playing my favourite online radio but only as loud as possible so it is a bit difficult to use when the kids are asleep.

Thanks for any info.
