Mouse cannot be found...can't load X

I got through the slack install ok...even the xf86config...but when I startup x...I get kicked out with an error saying /dev/mouse not found.

Now...I have a logitech cordless MX 700 (USB) so I chose USB in the slackware config...then Auto in the xf86config right....but no luck

Now I haven't tried it but the mouse is plugged into a USB hub, but I don't think that should make much of a difference

Anyone help? I havent seen the GUI ONCE!!! lol

Just...can't....get...in!!!!

For usb mouse, the device is called /dev/input/mice
and you need usb-modules enabled, that is:
usbcore
usb-uhci or usb-ohci (depending on your chipset; you can try both)
hid (acronym from human interface device)
and mousedev
