mod_rewrite not working in Slack 10 -10.1

Hi! Having troubles with mod_rewrite. I have apache 1.3 installed from the 10.1 release: apache-1.3.33-i486-1

Within the apache configs it looks like mod_rewrite is 100% enabled. It's not an .htaccess problem, as all rewrites have been tested on other boxes with Apache 1.3 and 2.0.

If someone knows why the default doesn't seem to work, please help. Other thoughts/ideas are welcome.

in your <Directory> Stanza (httpd.conf), do you have "AllowOverride None" by chance? if so, either comment it out or change to "AllowOverride All" before apache will process your .htaccess files

This was the answer for me, I had to change AllowOverride from NONE to ALL

I'm using Slackware 12.1
