I just installed Slackware 10.0 and using Gnome as default. When I boot into gnome im using around 200-230 megs of ram out of 512. Just from doing normal tasks my ram usage will end up getting to around 490-500 of usage with only a few free.
Even when I close the programs the ram usage doesnt seem to free up. What could be causing this? When I run ( ps -aux) I dont see and processes that seem to be hogging all the ram. This seem to happen most of the time when Im browsing using Firefox.
Right now I have Slack installed on a P3 1gig with 512 megs of ram and the OS just feels very sluggish.
