Could you tell more about your server? This is not Fairy country where people walk around with crystal balls.
That said - qmail is not part of Slackware, so I can not even start to imagine how you installed and configured it.
Swaret would not be my choice of upgrade tool, but if it suits you I won't comment further on it.

A quick google tells me that "the most common cause of this error is a problem with the ClamAV installation". Now, you did not mention whether you use ClamAV so from this point on I must guess... which I will not. Instead, I invite you to add detail to your problem description.

i used clamav but currently i'm using simscan to do the mail scaning and no the qmailscan alternative, everything worked fine till the last update, when it started the error marathon. i'm using slackware 12.0 and when i was installing i used the qmailrocks instructions at www.qmailrocks.org tried the clamav sollutions on their forums and ohters but it didn't help. The server receives mail but can't send.
