E-Mail problems?

I want to be able to recieve/send email from my linux box. I have installed Exim(like smail) and have fetchmail installed too.

I can send/recievce local email...

How could i test if i could send email to the outside world? i.e. send mail to user@hotmail.com from my linux box.

How would i make POP3 boxes for my virtual hosts? i.e. Rick@mydomain.com ?

To test if you can send mail to the outside world just dial the web and send an email to an external address. Its as easy as that. Exim will lookup the correct mail exchanger and attempt to relay the mail for you. Job done!

I don't think you really mean POP virtual hosts. You want to get exim virtual hosts running - something I know nothing about, but I think it must be similar to sendmail. If you were using sendmail then you'd just open port 25 to the world, add another Cw line to sendmail.cf so that sendmail knows its the offical mail server for mydomain.com and update the DNS for mydomain.com so the MX record point to the right machine.

HTH

Jamie...

Jamie, do you have AOL instant messenger or something? I would be grateful for a few minutes of your time...
