Looking for PCI Voice Modem

I'm running Slackware 10.2.

I'm developing an application that needs voice message file call out capability using a PCI voice modem or similar PCI device.

I have a Creative Modem PCI DI5633, but I haven't been able to get it to work.

I thought I could install the modem, use setserial to change the settings on a device ( /dev/ttyS_ ) to match the modem card ( port 0x10e8 irq 9 uart 16550A ) and be off and running. However, I've not been able to get that to work. And, I'm getting mixed information about the need for or availability of drivers for the PCI DI5633.

Can any one point me to drivers for the PCI DI5633 or make a hardware recommendation to replace DI5633?

Any help will be appreciated,
Ray

I believe that modem has the Conexant chipset ... right ?

Quote:
Because the scope of this project has grown beyond the capacity of a single volunteer and legal issues prevent us from using a classic open-source development model, the modem drivers are now available in two editions:
# a free version (limited to 14.4Kbps data), available at no cost. Please use it to test if your hardware is compatible.
# a full version (with 56K and FAX), available for a modest price.

If you're fine with 14.4 kbps ....

Looking for PCI Voice Modem

H_TeXMeX_H,

Yes, I've confirmed the the Craetive PCI DI5633 is based on the Conexant chipset. I'll try the linuxant solution.

Thanks for the help,
Ray

H_TeXMeX_H,

I downloaded the Linuxant drivers and they look good so far. Their drivers don't yet have full support for the voice capabilities I need, but I believe they will get there if anyone will.

Thanks again for the lead.

No problem. Wish their drivers weren't proprietary ... maybe then they would be more fully featured. I couldn't find any FLOSS drivers, unfortunately.
