kernel 2.6 problems

I downloaded http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...atch-2.6.4.bz2
how do I go on then? I used bzip2 -d to get patch-2.6.4...but how do I get to the make stuff step?
I made a full install slack, but there is no /usr/src/linux directory.
Please give me any info about that..thx

what is your current version if you are using 2.6.3 currently then this patch is for you.
# uname -r will show you your current version

if you are using 2.6.3 then this will patch your kerenl with .4
cp the patch to the kerenl source directory and issue this command
#patch -p1 < patchfilename
