Kernel 2.6.9. No mouse. No Network.

Running Slackware 10.0 with a USB mouse and an on-board SIS ethernet card.

I installed Kernal 2.6.9. Everything went fine, no errors but when I boot to it I get no mouse and no network. lspci -v doesn't show anything that I know of as a problem. dmesg shows a lot of "unknown device" entries.

I enabled SCSI, SIS chipset drivers, ATI drivers AMD drivers... everything I can think of but it just doesn't matter.

Has anyone seen this? What is the problem?

Hey,

My mouse didnt work the first time I used the 2.6 series. Make sure module "psmouse" is loaded.

As root:

/sbin/modprobe psmouse

Then see if your mouse is working.

As for the ethernet card, what does "ifconfig" show? Does the kernel recognize the card? If so, just run dhcpcd

as root:

dhcpcd eth* where * is the ethernet device

See if that does anything
