Kenel 2.6.9 missing options

Okay, I got 2.6.9 to work using oldconfig but it runs crappy. Slow program loads, etc. So, I thought I would go through the routine again. I very carefully went through every menu and discovered there is nowhere in the kernel to setup Ethernet. There are no Ethernet modules at all. What am I missing?

I am beginning to think the 2.4.x kernels are better.

When I use "make xconfig" the options are missing. When I use "make menuconfig" the options are there.

I'm am now tired of messing with it. My 2.4.26 kernel is working fine. Maybe I'll try again one of these days.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Have a good one.

That's because you used a 2.4.* config to make oldconfig a 2.6.* kernel.
A lot changed between the two configs. Try with a fresh, new, 2.6.9 config file.

Yeah, that makes sense. I didn't see the Ethernet modules on my first try either, though. I'll probably get bored and try it agian.

Thanks.
