First run xwmconfig and set kde as your preferred desktop. Then edit /etc/inittab, as root user, and change the default boot run leve from 3 to 4.

cmon... this question has only been askad about a 1000 times....
anyway:
change /etc/inittab

id:3:initdefault:
must be a 4:
id:4:initdefault:

make sure that "startx" works or else you got a problem. you can alway's try to kill x with ctrl+alt+backspace or get a console by
ctrl+alt+f6

good luck
