I installed KDE 4.10.3 from alienbob and Decided to finally switch from my openbox/xfce setup, as the 4.10.3 is very snappy for me.
I was taking a look at changing the login themes under kde system settings, which are administrative settings. When I went to apply them it asked for credentials and then polkit1-kde crashed.
First I don't have sudo installed, does kde administrative gui dialogs require sudo?
Or is this just a crash because of possible mismatch with KDE 4.10.3 and polkit1-kde which didn't change from the stock slackware 14 one?
I also have a crash on closing amarok, both 2.6 or 2.7, when exiting on 4.10.3, which looks like it's a known bug in 4.10.3 with a patch and will be fixed in 4.10.4
Thanks for the info, that's what I thought since KDE is the default desktop in Slackware and Slackware doesn't install sudo by default. But I was getting a dialog for credential that didn't ask for root password, but user credentials, with ability to change which regular user, which seemed sudoish.
In checking slackware current polkit-kde packages, and polkit-qt package, none of these have changed from slackware 14, so it doesn't seem like it could actually be a mismatch, as no one else on current seems to have had this problem. So I figured my polkit configuration got trashed, and removed it and reinstalled it, and now everything works and it gives a proper su dialog.
