KDE 3.5 and Kopete Webcam/audio configuration
Hello, I posted this on the kde-forums, but no reply so far. Yesterday I installed KDE 3.5 on my Slackware 10.2 system. I have been waiting for this release because of the video/audio support in Kopete. But in the Kopete configuration for "Devices", there is only one tab for videodevice, and no tab available for audiodevice. And worse, the fields in "video device configuration" are all empty. I cannot pick and set a "device", "input" or "standard".
The fact is that I have a loaded driver for my webcam. (logitech quickcam messenger) And sound working through alsa. These devices for sound and video seems all okay and show up in the /dev directory. But why is there no audio-tab and why can't I pick a device to use for the webcam in Kopete?
I hope I have explained the issue, and maybe someone else here have tried Kopete with webcam and audio and can provide some information.
Thanks for any help or suggestions to locate the problem.
/Mack

Do you have correct permissions set for the device in /dev? I had to use chmod 666 /dev/ttyS0 in my rc.local for options to show up for my camera.
Not a webcam but might be similar problem to yours.

Ah, dive, thanks for reminding me of this. The device belonged to root, so I just changed it to users and Kopete immediately recognized the webcam. The other problem remains though, I thought voice conversation was supported as well, but maybe they dropped that...

when I try to use new feature from kopete "request webcam" with yahoo prtocol it said that "I cannot find the jasper image convert program.
jasper is required to render the yahoo webcam images.
Please go to http://www.ece.uvic.ca/~mdadams/jasper/"
so I try to download "jasper" I compile it but seems like i got error message when in the "make" proccesing some thing about "libtool" "libgl" or something...........
so is there any other way to provide "jasper" on my slack (10.2) so I can use video/webcam with kopete?
thanx before....

I'm on kubuntu.....upgraded to kde 3.5.....when i accepted the webcam invite it gave me the same message about some jasper missing....went into synaptic.....installed these 2 files called libjasper runtime and libjasper-dev......and now i can see webcams.YOOOHOOOOO!!
Thats the ease of use u get when on a debian-based distro like kubuntu

Same problem here using Fedora 8.
I can use webcam in kopete but I can't hear nothing.
My microphone don't work in kopete and I can't hear other people.
