Installing KDE 4

Sorry for the noobish question, but I'm I little confused with the Readme.

Can I just make a KDE4 directory, use wget to download the packages, and upgrade/install them locally?

Check ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...es/kde4/README for important information on how to install KDE4

Don't want to send you away but it is important to read this info before you start installing KDE4!

I read that it is possible to maintain both KDE3 & KDE4 on your system but I haven't tried it and couldn't find the link right now...

KDE 3 in /xap and KDE 4 in /testing doesn't coexists. You will need to remove the other in order to install specific version.

If you want to have co-exists KDE packages, try Vincent's package here: http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/kde4-coexist/
It's still KDE 4.1.0 though

Well it's all moot anyway.

I removed all of KDE3, installed 4 and after about an hour of using it, decided I really didn't like it at all. So I had to install all the KDE3 packages again.

What a complete waste of a day.

you can save your time by backing up your .kde first before you wiped them
