Ok, so I have installed slackware several times on the same machine. Every time I have a problem getting my mouse to work, this time I cant remember what I did last time to make it work.
I am installing it on a laptop. And the touchpad works fine, but the mouse doesnt. If I change xorg.conf protocol to "IMPS/2" the mouse still doesnt work and the touchpad goes to the bottom left of the screen and starts randomly clicking.
I did the whole ZAxisMapping "4 5" thing and the Buttons "5" but i cant figure that out.
Second question:
I have never had to configure anything to get my computer to connect to the internet wirelessly, however now the network i am connecting to has WEP security, and i was wondering how i set up the key and everything to work
it may take some trial and error. try changing the protocol, or the Z-axis or number of buttons to more correctly describe your mouse. for myself i had to change those plus, most importantly, the device.. which turned out to be, i found, /dev/input/mice
I have a Wireless Logitec mouse, it has a bunch of buttons and a scroll wheel. its the one i have always used. i will try changeing the input device. see if that fixes it
where "abcdefghijk12" is the key as a 13 character string, that's why is preceded with s: . You can write directly the hex code, in that case its longer and you don't have to use "s:" .
The way I set up the wireless connection in my Slackware is writing this commands in /etc/rc.d/rc.local :
where "macaconet" is the essid of your network. You choose the right channel (11 in these case) and the transfer rate (I use 1M) I think you can leave it untouched. Note the "sleep 3", it doesn't work for me without that.
