hey there, im trying to install kde i have everything i think i need on my laptop like qt and x window. now i have downloaded the kde files there are in bz2 files i have put them on a memory stick and im nto sure really what 2 do i have looked about on new but they all seem to be for installing it for ubuntu.
can anyone lend a quick had where to get started,
all i can guess is that i have 2 mount the memory stick but then i get confused
Any Slackware mirror should have them, or if you have the CDs, they're on CD 3 (assuming you're using 12.1). In all cases, they'll be in the directory "kde".
I'm not sure, but I think just kdebase and kdelibs are necessary. Certainly you'll need the Qt package as well (which is in "l"). As for other KDE packages, read the descriptions (the text files) and see what you're likely to want/need.
Yes, you just run "installpkg filename". You can give the whole list of files to installpkg as well, i.e. you don't have to run installpkg multiple times.
sorry forgot to ask if im installing from a memory stick i need to mount that dont i then use install from where i mount it ? by that i mean i have to cd to that directory,
