Why don't you just get the Slackware packages and install those using installpkg?

rich345 12-06-2008 12:07 PM

ok do i get them on the slaskware page ?

Nylex 12-06-2008 12:09 PM

Any Slackware mirror should have them, or if you have the CDs, they're on CD 3 (assuming you're using 12.1). In all cases, they'll be in the directory "kde".

rich345 12-06-2008 12:10 PM

yea i am using 12.1, i found them on slackware page, how many things aprox do i need?

everything i need is in

http://packages.slackware.it/browse..../slackware/kde

I'm not sure, but I think just kdebase and kdelibs are necessary. Certainly you'll need the Qt package as well (which is in "l"). As for other KDE packages, read the descriptions (the text files) and see what you're likely to want/need.

Are you aware those are for -current and not for 12.1?

Here is a 12.1 mirror

Also, the Slackbook and specially chapter 18 would be usefull.

i have installed the things i need from /l,

just downloading packages from /kde

so using pkginstall, i just do installpkg then the packagename.tgz,

thanks :)

Yes, you just run "installpkg filename". You can give the whole list of files to installpkg as well, i.e. you don't have to run installpkg multiple times.

might sound stupid, but if i used 12.1 install disc will the current things not work ?

Nylex 12-06-2008 12:43 PM

It's probably better to stick to the 12.1 packages.

rich345 12-06-2008 12:45 PM

ok im now downloading them all through the link you gave me thanks,

Well, it's better to read the CURRENT.WARNING so you know what you're getting into :)
