insmod: ERROR: could not insert module 8812au.ko: Unknown symbol in module

On Slackware 14.2 I downloaded and built dongle driver rtl8812au:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au
cd rtl8812au
make
make install
insmod 8812au.ko
but I get the error:
Code:
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module 8812au.ko: Unknown symbol in module
dmesg has:
Code:
[142517.571720] 8812au: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.
[142517.572896] 8812au: Unknown symbol kthread_complete_and_exit (err 0)
[142572.756304] 8812au: Unknown symbol kthread_complete_and_exit (err 0)
[142727.984810] 8812au: Unknown symbol kthread_complete_and_exit (err 0)
Has anyone solved this problem?

And use modprobe, because it resolve the modules dependencies - loading the required modules. With insmod you should do this yourself.

A two second search on your error returns this: https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au/issues/244

Huh! I searched for 1/2 an hour on all kinds of issues with 8812au.ko and "Unknown symbol", but I did not search on kthread_complete_and_exit. My bad!

thanks!
