Icecat crashes on Slackware

Icecat started crashing with the message: "Gah, your tab crashed"

The fix (for me) was to:

about:config in Icecat...
Search for browser.tabs.remote.autostart and set the value to False.

After that, it's working again.

Interesting exercise.

I installed Icecat 60.7esr just now using the slackbuild and from the 32bit packaged binary from GNU on a Slackware 15.0 install recently updated.

Initially, no tab crashing but very strange font rendering (some headings missing on simple Web pages, jaggy rendering of fonts at the bottom of the page, View Source showing just empty boxes).

Later, I got the tab crashes.

Running from terminal showed loads of 'sandbox' errors of various kinds.

Applying the fix above and it is working fine.

(I was a gNewSense user for some time back in the day)
