Type "which vi" at a command prompt to see if it's installed and where it's at. If it's in /usr/bin/vi like mine is, you should just have to do this(logged in as a normal user):
$ su -c 'ln -s /usr/bin/vi /bin/vi'
If for some reason it's not installed, you can get the .tgz package from your install disk, or off one of the Slackware mirrors.
