HP 712C Printer COnfig

Still can't get this working......Red Hat seems to do it fine but slack is being stubborn and it's making me mad. after running apsfilter setup I get this when trying to print a test page...

T) Print a test page
*) Back to main menue

Your choice? t

Printing Test page using:
gs -q -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dPARANOIDSAFER -dSAFER -r600x600 -sDEVICE=ppmraw -sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile='/tmp/apsfilter1430/test_page.aps' setup/test.ps | 'pnm2ppa' -- -v 712

Ok to print testpage? [y/n] y

Creating test page...
pnm2ppa: pnm2ppa: Verbose logging to console
pnm2ppa[1486]: main(): Could not open PNM input file

real 0m4.090s
user 0m1.640s
sys 0m0.750s

Printing test page...
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 100980070 Feb 10 22:48 /tmp/apsfilter1430/test_page.aps

and it just sits there and never prints......I installed the pnm2ppa drivers like www.linuxprinting.org says to for my printer but it still won't work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Any reason you haven't tried CUPS?

To get a 720C working I had to install foomatic-filters and the pnm2ppa driver. I wasn't sure and installed the foomatic-db-engine as well, didn't hurt to do this

Having installed these two and the appropriate PPD-file from linuxprinting.org I set up CUPS to print to my printer. So I have no clue about apsfilter. Use the 712C and 720C the same printing commands? In this case I could send you a Slackware package for this that should install the foomatic things and pnm2ppa as well as the beh backend error handler (http://www.linuxprinting.org/beh.html).
I have this package and a script to copy the PPD file to the right place on my machine. I am NO MORE able to test it any longer, since my 720C printer decided to stop working two weeks ago
