hello, I'm a newbie slackware user. I wonder how to keep track of all the programs that are manually compiled and installed (./configure, make, make install). Does Slackware9.1 has a system or logging that keep track of these program somewhere? How do I uninstall such programs? Thanks
there's a program called checkinstall that you use instead of "make install" which makes a slackware package and then installs it, that way you can remove the package using pkgtool. It's on the cd, I think in extras, or you can get it using swaret. It's usually the first thing I install on a slackware system. Second actually, swaret is first.
Or at the last ressort, open the Makefile(s) and see where the program go to install (hard job if the program package contains subdirectories with one Makefile into each of them) you can also do a fake install in a directory (I think it is the method of the checkinstall program) with ./configure --prefix /your/directory, so it can give you an idea where the program install
