How to repair damaged ext2

Greetings all. Trying to boot into my slack system says that my hda6 partition has errors that I need to fix manually. I logged into root from there but no commands were recognized (except the most basic like ls, etc..). I'm assuming I need to mount the partitions as they were most likely not mounted. I get nervous when it comes to these things though. I think I need to use the cd (resuce or install?) and mount my partitions and go from there. Could anyone point me to a walkthrough for this or explain it for me please? BTW my filesystem type is ext2. Here's a screenshot of the problem. Thanks much in advance!

I assume you logged into single-user mode and did as that warning box told you?

If that doesn't work, then booting from the Slackware install CD and running that command it shows will work for you.
