I found after one upgrade that /etc/rc.d/rc.cups was not executable so you want to check that and chmod +x it, then do /etc/rc.d/rc.cups start

Sorry I may have misunderstood but apart from 'error -110' it is detecting the printer on usb? If cups is not running, what happens when you start it?

PS nice magazine in you sig btw

udev has had some major upgrades. My guess is that the old udev was somehow still running and there were some conflicts there. Others have also had some udev problems too.

Anyway glad it's working ok now.

From the 16 Aug changelog:

Code:
< a/devs-2.3.1-noarch-24.tgz: Added udev-style /dev/md/* devices to save people
< who boot between 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernels some trouble.
< Thanks to Mircea Baciu for pointing out this possibility.
< Note: Upgrading the devs package while running udev will NOT work.
Might be a clue there
