Hardware and Software troubles

Hey everyone. This is my first post., but I'm sure I'll make more since I really like the way Slackware works

Ok, I just installed Slackware 9.1. My first impression: IT'S FAST! But, I'm having some problems.

1. How do I set up a PPPoE ADSL modem?

2. How do I configure XFree86?

3. How do I get sound working?

My system is:
Athlon XP 3200+
ASUS A7N8X Delux (nForce 2 Ultra 400, rev 2)
nVidia SoundStorm integrated audio
nVidia GeForce FX 5700
512 MB DDR 400
250 GB WD HDD

Slackware on HDA1, Debian on HDA2. Debian works perfectly, all devices and 3D work. Can I transfer settings from Debian to Slackware?

Also, I need to set up my printer, a HP Deskjet 3550 on USB port 1. Also, how do I get Slackware to see Debian on HDA2?

Welcome aboard.
If you use the search button above, you will find that all those questions have been answered many times.
You can also look at this FAQ for a.o.l.s.

Ok, I got ADSL working and I upgraded Slack to current via Swaret. Now, when my computer starts it says:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

I have no sound. Also, I go through the printer setup routine in KDE's print control thing and I select the HP Deskjet driver, and everything is configured correctly, but it won't print. And I still need to figure out how to see HDA2. Also, my mouse is working, but the wheel isn't. I can press down on the wheel and things happen, but when I roll it, nothing happens.

With regards to your scrolling difficulties see this post http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=174447 under the Get Your X Server Working section. Supposing that doesn't work, when (if?) you ran xf86config did you choose to emulte three mouse buttons? That might be your problem.

I have no idea about the sound issue, but, as ringwraith mentioned, the search button in the upper right will be your friend.

Hope that helps.
