Going for a minimal install

Well, after using ctkarch for a while (amazing how small you can go), i got tired and wanted to venture out.

So, i figured why not give slackware a try. I'm no pro on linux, but im not a complete noob either.

I was wondering, my current version of ctkarch uses about 50 mb of ram, and is running on bare essentials. My computer isn't too slow, but, its not the fastest thing in the world so I dont mind some sacrifices. I'm shooting to replicate it.

Currently, i have decided on openbox as a DE, and trying to limit what i install.

Any suggestions and comments would be helpful.

Hi,
Welcome to LQ & Slackware!
You could scroll down and see similar threads or do a LQ Search.

Minimal System from SlackWiki method as to what packages you should install to have a base system.

HOWTO make your own custom Slackware install disk is Samac's LQ technique, some cautions but good. 'Here is a method of cutting your Slackware to fit you by using Alien_Bob's mirror-slackware-current.sh script.'

mini ISO image is a CDROM to boot, and install packages from an NFS server or local hard disk.

The above links and others can be found at 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!
