flash player 10 install

Not able to install flash player 10. Instructions were:

Unpackage the file. A directory called install_flash_player_10_linux will be created.

In terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. Click Enter. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).

I unpackaged the file with tar -xvf install_flash_player__10_linux.tar.gz

which gives me a file libflashplayer.so, but could not find the directory install_flash_player_10_linux which should have been created to execute ./flashplayer-installer.
