fb0: switching to amdgpudrmfb from EFI VGA on -current with 5600G

i built a new computer for the first time in 10 years (yay!). it's an AMD Ryzen 5600G based system. i am using integrated graphics only with no discrete gpu.

i need to UEFI boot because of my NVME drive. i previously ran 14.2 with lilo and no uefi. i successfully installed -current with elilo.

the system boots normally until it goes to start up the integrated GPU. i thought i was hanging on this spot-

however i read this which explained my issue further-
https://forum.level1techs.com/t/fb0-...efi-vga/152112

the system is not actually hanging, it's continuing to boot. it's just not outputting anything to the monitor. i tried to boot liveslack from a usb stick and get the same problem.

i am not sure how i can try to implement any of the fixes in the above URL since i can't boot all the way to a command prompt to log in, at least not one that i can see on my monitor.

i do have an old GTX 650 i can throw in to troubleshoot further, but i wanted to check here first for better ideas.

It sounds like you may need to disable kernel modesetting using "nomodeset" before the kernel boots. I also have the black screen boot problem with my RTX 3060 ti and disabling modesetting fixes it. Some of this bleeding edge hardware doesn't have proper KMS drivers yet so disabling modesetting is necessary. Unfortunately I don't like elilo and don't use it, I switched to grub when I went UEFI on my new system, so I can help you with enabling nomodeset during boot with elilo.
