eth0 inet address not assigned at startup??

On a fresh install of 12.2, why would it be that there is no ipv4 address assigned to eth0? I went through netconfig, checked that the appropriate values were in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf, and everything in /var/log/messages seems normal (the ifconfig command in rc.inet1 ran normally)... if I issue the the ifconfig and route commands in rc.local, then the address is assigned correctly...

All I've done since installing 12.2 is applied all the packages.

Some questions to try to help you better:
- tell us about your network card - wired? wireless? model?
- is the module for the card being loaded at boot time?
- did you use fixed IP addresses or DHCP?

Hi,

Post that output for 'ifconfig -a' and 'route -n' along with the '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf'.
