gbonvehi,

I didn't mean to be disputing you in a rude way.
Just feel that when posting to a forum such as
this one, especially with so many new users, it's
important to let someone know when you're not
referring to the defaults.

Before I knew better, I used to install packages
from LinuxPackages.net -- which almost never
worked on my default Slackware systems. And
I'd follow advice on here that wasn't always
accurate.

Try changing the outside values. Looks like your horiz is not allowed to go low enough and your vert is not allowed to go high enough, but mostly the horiz
Code:
Option "HorizSync" "30 - 80.0" # <str>
Option "VertRefresh" "60-120" # <str>

well...

I've messed around with it, setting the low, higher; and high, lower. But still it doesn't work, it alwas sets it back up to 95.3x59, even though once i was able to get it to goto 95.4x59 (odd...).

arrrg!

May sound dumb, but are you editing this file as the root user?

I've been told that current xorg.conf files don't need to include modelines. In fact, the tools included with Xorg don't create them, anymore. So I doubt if that is your problem...
