go to
www.slackware.com click on book, or this link :-D
http://www.slackware.com/book/index....urce=x948.html go to compiling the kernel
# mv /vmlinuz /vmlinuz.old
# cat arch/i386/boot/zImage > /vmlinuz
# mv /boot/System.map /boot/System.map.old
# cp System.map /boot/System.map
should be changed to:
# mv /boot/vmlinuz /boot/vmlinuz.old
# cat arch/i386/boot/zImage > /boot/vmlinuz
# mv /boot/System.map /boot/System.map.old
# cp System.map /boot/System.map
keep this in mind at other points where you need to specify it
also this has changed for 2.6.x, but not enough that you can't figure it out (make dep is gone, thats about it)
when compiling your kernel go default on anything you are clueless about, but try to read thehelp descriptions a lot. you need toi have a good understanding/knowledge of what hardware is in your computer.
