Does GDM work properly for anyone else?
GDM was kind of a mess when I tried using it on 14.1. It would randomly freeze when inputting keys, or changing menu options. I'm not even sure if I got to load an XFCE session when I tried it. I went back to XDM. I just installed whatever Slackbuild there was for it. Was I suppose to configure or change something to get it to work right or does it just suck on Slackware?

Hello.
If you are using the GDM build files from SBo, they were updated about 10 days ago. The reason I know is I was involved in the fix - which was to correct an issue with the glibc crypt handling patch.
So, if your SBo download is older than a week or so, upgrade and try again.
--mancha
PS If this doesn't fix your particular issue, I recommend you submit as detailed a report as you can to the maintainer of the package you're using. If you're using SBo files, that is RWorkman.

Ok thanks. I'll try it again and see what happens.

I have GDM included in my personal blend of Xfce. It's even mildly themed by default, to integrate with the default desktop theme. I took Salix' version of GDM and made some further modifications.

Choose your version and architecture, and if you decide only to install GDM, make sure to fetch at least libgnomecanvas, which is a dependency.
Cheers,
Niki

Feel free to grab my fix from SBo's GDM and apply it to yours if you wish.

Thanks mancha. GDM works much better now with the latest slackbuild. I had to reinstall mesa to get some EGL files that the 331.xx nvidia binary deleted that GDM needed to build, but that's something different lol
