I loaded the bttv module my card needed and as running root as X I had no problem running TvTime which is what I use for the tv program. However when I went over to my user account it told me that it was unable to open /dev/video0. I scratched my head went back to X as root and tried it and it worked again. So I ended up doing this....
Quote:
cd /dev
Quote:
chmod +777 video0
And doing that allowed me to use the tv tuner with the user account however after rebooting the permissions went back to the way they were and I had to chmod it as root in order to use the tv card. Strangely enough it's a ATI Tv Wonder PCI and it looks way better running under linux than it does running under windows go figure
Anyways if anyone has any tips that I could use so I don't have to keep sudoing and chmodding /dev/video0 it would be appreciated
