I do not think people mean that, even if they say something that may seem similar. And I do not think that dropping KDE's non-essential parts would make Slackware more similar to other distributions.
I just want to say that, as in football for example, everyone thinks he would be a better coach than the one in place :-)
It's just similar to a pub counter discussion for me

There is a separate MATE repository. KDE could be detached from Slackware and go the similar way. Heavy weight would be dropped for better Slackware, and KDE addicts would not be hurt or too much "offended".

If you like KDE5, you will love Windows 10. Switch now! If you want "slacking" with console, you can install Cygwin there.
Obvious bait, but I’ll take it anyway: I use Windows 10 more than Slackware because work is Win 10 only, I help family members admin their Win 10 machines, and I (rarely on my home computer) use some software there that’s not available on Linux.
I definitely do not love Win 10. I use it when I have no choice.

Cygwin has been available in Windows for almost (if not actually) a generation now. Windows 10 allows you to install the bash shell as well as a bunch of Ubuntu stuff.
Since all of my computers capable of running Windows are also capable of running Slackware (i.e., they dual boot), I haven't bothered to test how this works.
My work machine runs macOS. The less said about that, the better.
I didn't count. About 20. But permanently lived in 2 countries, my bible belt southern friend.
Ah, I've only visited 9 by my count (I don't count sitting in an airport while waiting for a flight to somewhere else as a visit; I'm not accusing you of doing so by this statement). 3 in Europe, 1 in North America, the rest in what is termed Asia.
I spent 4 years living in one of the European countries and 1 year living in one of the Asian ones. I didn't consider myself to be a permanent resident in any of those.
Would you be willing to state which 2 countries you had permanently lived in, my round-eyed friend?
I don't understand the need to remove the entire DE from the distro. Is there a major benefit to doing so? Surely there are people who like what KDE offers, why deprive them?
Personally, I don't use a DE either. It's been Flux/Ice for me since forever. Still, I appreciate the work the KDE team puts in. To say that it's trash or garbage is extremely unfair and insulting.
Distribution: Currently: OpenMandriva. Previously: openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

In any case, this troll (ialexand) has just found another way of saying "I don't like it, so get rid of it". Well I don't use Slackware, but I do use Linux and there is no reason to get rid of Slackware just because I don't use it.
@ialexand,
It's called "voting with your feet" - use something else if you're not happy, don't expect everyone to bend to your whim. How can KDE have any effect on the system if you're not using it to begin with ? It is outright illogical for something that isn't being used in the first place to be able to have any effect at all. Who exactly is holding a gun to your head forcing you to install any KDE packages to begin with ? Your crazy mind doesn't count.
